Libya: UN envoy hopes parliamentary polls will lead to greater political stability
The United Nations envoy in Libya today commended the authorities on the organization of the parliamentary elections and urged all citizens to take part in the polls, which he hoped will pave the way for greater stability in the country.

The fingers of at least eleven voters were cut off by anti-government armed militants in western Herat province of Afghanistan. Gen. Ayub Salangi, deputy interior minister for security, said the fingers of the voters were cut off by militants for participating in elections.


KP- Around 150 attacks were carried out during runoff election day
The anti-government armed militants carried out nearly 150 attacks during the runoff presidential election on Saturday. According to interior ministry officials, the attacks were carried out until 2:00 pm local time and preliminary reports suggest at least 99 people were injured following the attacks.

KP- 473 major terrorist attack plots foiled by Afghan security forces
The Afghan national security forces foiled at least 473 major terrorist attack plots during the election day in Afghanistan. Afghan intelligence – national directorate of security (NDS) chief, Rahmatullah Nabil said Saturday that Lashkar-e-Taiba and Haqqani Network militants were looking to carry out coordinated attacks in various parts of the country during the election runoff day.


Security Council updates mandate of UN mission in Mali, extends two other operations
The Security Council today extended the mandates of United Nations peacekeeping forces in Mali, Cote d’Ivoire and the Golan, in separate meetings, as part of its efforts to maintenance of international peace and security.
