VOA- UN Warns of More Than a Million Displaced in Afghanistan
Hundreds of thousands of people are displaced from their homes in Afghanistan due to the ongoing violence in the country. With winter coming soon, many lack proper shelter and require humanitarian assistance. VOA’s Ayesha Tanzeem met some of them and brought us this report.







KP- 3 women shot dead by gunmen in Herat city of Afghanistan
At least three women were shot dead by unknown gunmen in Herat city located in West of Afghanistan, local officials said Wednesday. The incident took place late on Tuesday after the gunmen riding motorcycle opened fire on the women.


Pajhwok- 6 Daesh affiliates killed in Nangarhar artillery fire
Six Daesh militants have been killed and two more wounded during an ongoing joint operation by Afghan security forces in the Pacheragam district of eastern Nangarhar province. Nangarhar police spokesman Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News the Daesh affiliates suffered casualties as a result of artillery fire by the Afghan forces during the ongoing “Operation Shaheen 20.”







UN and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation must cooperate on resolving conflicts, Security Council told
Citing more than 20 years of collaboration between the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), a senior UN political official today urged greater efforts by the two entities to draw on each other’s strengths and devise joint strategies to prevent and resolve conflicts.


Security Council extends the mandate of joint UN-OPCW body on chemical weapons in Syria
The Security Council has extended, for an additional year, the mandate of the United Nations-Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Joint Investigative Mechanism, the body tasked with identifying those behind chemical weapons attacks in the Syrian conflict.

Strongly condemning attacks against civilians, ethnically targeted killings, hate speech, and incitements to violence in South Sudan, the United Nations Security Council called for urgent steps to address increasing hate speech and ethnic violence, and to promote reconciliation among the people, including through a process of justice and accountability.


Noting upcoming elections in Mali, Ban urges Government to engage with all actors to diffuse tensions
Ahead of local elections in Mali, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has encouraged the Government to pursue a constructive dialogue with all stakeholders to defuse tensions that may arise before and after the poll and to ensure that the holding of the elections do not compromise the advances made towards peace in the country.
