温家宝生在天津市近郊北辰区宜兴埠镇温家胡同8号的一个普通知识分子家庭。中学时期，他就读于著名学府——天津市南开中学；1960年考入北京地质学院（现中国地质大学）。1968年，在获得地质构造专业研究生学历后，温家宝与胡锦涛一样，被分配到中国西北部的甘肃省从事地质工作。
