ENG: Wayne Maxwell Swan (born 30 June 1954) is an Australian politician. He has been an Australian Labor Party (ALP) member of the Australian House of Representatives from 1993 to 1996, and then re elected in 1998 till today , representing the Division of Lilley, QLD. Following Labor's win at the 2007 election, he became Treasurer of Australia in the First Rudd Ministry.
On 24 June 2010, Swan was elected unopposed as the Deputy Leader of the Labor Party, and became the Deputy Prime Minister when Julia Gillard was sworn in as the Prime Minister later that day, remaining also Treasurer.

TONY EASTLEY: The last of the big four banks fell into line last night announcing they'd pass on the Reserve Bank's quarter of 1 per cent interest rate cut.
It followed a concerted campaign by the Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan.
However the ANZ Bank has hit out at the political pressure it and other banks received saying from now on it will review interest rates once a month and move independently of the Reserve Bank.
