Truss says transport spending is 'tricky'

Nationals leader Warren Truss says the bringing forward of federal money for roadworks won't guarantee they will be built faster. The government's mid-year budget review, released on Tuesday, showed $1.4 billion would be brought forward to be spent in 2011/12 to accelerate construction of major infrastructure projects. These included the upgrading of Melbourne's Western Ring Road, parts of the Pacific Highway in northern NSW, the Bruce Highway in northern and central Queensland and the South Road Superway in Adelaide.
