Trent Franks links balanced budget to abortion and Nazis

Truth is, former oil man and now Republican Congressman Trent Franks, who's definitely in the running for the looniest congressman from the looniest state, can link any topic to abortion. In the mid-80s Franks founded the Arizona Family Research Institute, the local version of Dobson's Focus on the Family. He was elected to the state legislature in 1984 running primarily on one issue: abortion. When Franks was elected to the US House in 2002, he arrived in DC with one goal: overturn Roe v Wade, and his entire tenure has been devoted to doing just that. This spring during the Planned ...

Chair of the Israel Allies Caucus Reacts to Reports Trump Plans To Recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital: “No Space Between” Israel and U.S.
Washington, D.C. – Reacting to reports that President Donald Trump plan on recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Congressman Trent Franks, chair of the Israel Allies Caucus, released the following statement lauding the president’s plans and urging the administration to move the U.S.’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Note that Rep. Trent Franks introduced legislation in the House (H.R. 257) that would specifically recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s undivided capital.   “President Trump is right to proclaim Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Israel is America’s most cherished ally in the world, and it is time the world understands there is no space between us. The president’s announcement will be a giant step in the right direction. Now it is time to do away with the biannual waver completely and unequivocally signal Israel’s sovereignty in Jerusalem by moving the U.S. embassy there as soon as possible.”
Congressman Trent Franks Applauds Congress for Passing the National Defense Authorization Act
Washington, D.C. – This week, both the House and the Senate approved the conference report for the National Defense Authorization Act. It heads to the president’s desk for signature. Among other things, the final bill will provide the military with nearly $700 billion in much-needed funding to rebuild our military, bolster and expand our missile defense capabilities, prosecute the war on ISIS and their affiliates, and – most importantly – provide our troops and veterans a much needed pay raise and a fix to key benefits.  Congressman Franks released the following statement:   “I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve on the NDAA Conference Committee once again, and am very pleased with how the bill ended up.  The House successfully fought to provide our troops with a well-deserved 2.4% pay raise this year, and we eliminated the dual-military BAH penalty for households with two active duty spouses.  We also permanently eliminated the ‘Widow’s Tax,’ which was a
Rep. Franks Statement on the House passage of the Republican Tax Reform Plan
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Trent Franks commented on the House passage of the Republican Tax Reform plan in the following statement:   “This is a historic and landmark tax overhaul. It is not embellishment to say this tax bill will benefit Americans of all ages and income levels. More Americans keeping more of their hard-earned money is good for everyone.   “Beyond that, this bill creates new rules that make American businesses more competitive worldwide – expect to see more ‘Made in America’ stickers on consumer goods. I believe the economic growth spurred by this tax reform bill will begin to close the deficit and provide healing to our hurting economy.”   “As of now, combined with local and state taxes, the tax rate is currently 39.1% -- the highest statutory rate among developed nations in the world!  This bill reduces the corporate tax rate to 20%. A lower tax rate will make the United States more competitive on the global market.   “This bill wi
Tax Reform: Pro-Growth, Pro-Adoption, Pro-Family
Note: This article was originally published at GOP.gov on November 30, 2017.   Today is the final day of National Adoption Month, and this year’s work on pro-family tax reform has only further bolstered my belief that the love of a family is a true gift, and one that is worth protecting. The Saturday before Thanksgiving is National Adoption Day. Families across the United States become larger and their hearts fuller because of the gift of adoption. With a promise to love and care for them, men and women of all walks of life finalize their adoptions, welcoming children into their forever families. In my role as co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth and the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, I’ve had the honor and privilege of witnessing this special moment and advocating for so many who are still trying to get there. Being in Congress, and having the trust of the people who sent us to serve them in the People’s House is a responsibility my colleagues and I t
