Trent Franks links balanced budget to abortion and Nazis

Truth is, former oil man and now Republican Congressman Trent Franks, who's definitely in the running for the looniest congressman from the looniest state, can link any topic to abortion. In the mid-80s Franks founded the Arizona Family Research Institute, the local version of Dobson's Focus on the Family. He was elected to the state legislature in 1984 running primarily on one issue: abortion. When Franks was elected to the US House in 2002, he arrived in DC with one goal: overturn Roe v Wade, and his entire tenure has been devoted to doing just that. This spring during the Planned ...

Tragedy in Las Vegas
Washington, D.C. – In reaction to the news that a gunman open fired into a crowd attending a music festival in Las Vegas, Congressman Trent Franks issued the following statement:   "I am following the details of the horrific shooting that happened in Las Vegas. The Kurdish Dream
Washington, D.C. – The Iraqi Kurds vote in a referendum today for independence from Baghdad. Congressman Trent Franks has been a long-time proponent of the Kurdish people. He has previously proposed an amendment to the defense authorization bill to directly arm the Kurds who are fighting ISIS, and he has been one of the key figures promoting Kurdish nationalism on Capitol Hill. As the votes are cast today, Rep. Trent Franks released the following statement:   “Baghdad has failed to secure Kurdish rights and effectively protect the Kurdish people from members of the Islamic State and other violent forces, and as any nation in our international community has the right to self-determination, especially if that people faces existential threats, I feel the United States is obligated to support their bid for independence – if it is in our national interest. After all, when America sought its independence as a sovereign nation, we were supported by sympathetic world leaders. It is no
Rep. Trent Franks Reacts to AL Senate GOP Primary Results
Washington, D.C. -- Reacting to last night's Alabama Senate GOP primary results, Rep. Trent Franks released the following statement:   "This election is nothing but a rebuke of business-as-usual by the Senate and the arcane, extra-Constitutional filibuster that Democrats use to turn Republican bills into left-wing gobbledygook then force it down the throat of the American voter."   ###
North Korea and Their Enablers are Enemies of Peace
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Trent Franks reacted to President Trump’s remarks about North Korean at the U.N. General Assembly Tuesday morning with the following statement:   “I commend the president for his remarks. On the world’s stage, President Trump has made clear he is breaking from the misguided tradition of enabling the North Korean regime.   “North Korea’s constant arrogant threats about nuclear annihilation must finally be met with strong condemnation from the international community. A threat to America is a threat to world order and stability. Nations that side with North Korea are enemies of peace.   “North Korea does not want to fight the United States. They want to extort the United States. They watched Bill Clinton pay their ransom when he negotiated an agreement with North Korea that ultimately gave them time to develop nuclear weapons. They watched Barack Obama make a deal with them that gave North Korea the time to develop their nuclear missi
