Franks underwent nine operations altogether, the first when he was two-and-a-half weeks old. After his parents separated, Franks took care of his younger siblings. While his parents took financial responsibility, he overtook the leadership ...

Trent Franks links balanced budget to abortion and Nazis

Truth is, former oil man and now Republican Congressman Trent Franks, who's definitely in the running for the looniest congressman from the looniest state, can link any topic to abortion. In the mid-80s Franks founded the Arizona Family Research Institute, the local version of Dobson's Focus on the Family. He was elected to the state legislature in 1984 running primarily on one issue: abortion. When Franks was elected to the US House in 2002, he arrived in DC with one goal: overturn Roe v Wade, and his entire tenure has been devoted to doing just that. This spring during the Planned ...

Franks Supports POTUS Decision to Withdraw From Paris Agreement
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Franks has made the following statement regarding President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement: "I fully support President Trump’s decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Agreement. In spite of the ridiculous and false narratives from the left, we all do in fact sincerely want to ensure our environment is protected. However, this agreement was originally executed by the Obama Administration without presenting it to Congress as a ratified treaty and thereby preventing the American people from having a voice at the table. The agreement was fundamentally ineffective and was a disservice to America by dramatically undermining U.S. jobs and competitiveness. President Trump continues to remain true to his promises of putting America and her workers first.”   ###
Franks Applauds Successful U.S. Missile Interceptor Test Against ICBM
Washington, D.C. – On Tuesday, May 30, the Missile Defense Agency successfully tested a Ground-Based Interceptor (GBI) against a "complex, threat-representative ICBM target" for the first time in history. The target ICBM was launched from the Reagan Test Site on the Kwajalein Atoll and intercepted from our GBI field on Vandenberg Air Force Base. Congressman Franks said of the test: "This test definitively proves the viability of our GMD (Ground-Based Midcourse Defense) capability, which is the cornerstone of our Ballistic Missile Defense System against the horror of a nuclear-armed ICBM. The detractors of American missile defense have been naysaying the initiative since the days of President Reagan - they've been parroting the same tired talking points for 34 years, and if this test doesn't prove them wrong I don't know what will. North Korea and Iran are increasing their missile technology at an alarming rate even as Russia and China continue developing capabilities designed to exp
Franks’ Disappointment in Delay to Move Israeli Embassy
Washington, D.C. – Following the announcement of President Trump signing a waiver to postpone moving the Israeli embassy to Jerusalem for six months, Congressman Franks has made the following statement: "As chair of the Israel Allies Caucus, I am extremely disappointed in President Trump’s decision to delay moving our embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv. It is my sincerest hope to meet with the President’s advisors soon to discuss the plan moving forward.”   ###
Adoption Ban Leaves 200 U.S. families & their Adopted Children in Heartbreaking Limbo; Bipartisan – and Bicameral – Group of Lawmakers are Working to Reunite Them
Washington, D.C.- 122 Members of Congress are urging the Prime Minister of Ethiopia to reconsider his April 21st decision to suspend international adoptions.  The order has left more than 200 U.S. families, and the Ethiopian children they are trying to bring home, in a heartbreaking limbo. In a bipartisan - and bicameral -  letter to Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, the 47 Senators and 75 members of the House of Representatives said: “While we respect your government’s decisions regarding future adoption policy in Ethiopia, we ask for your help in resolving expeditiously cases that were already underway on April 21.  We are concerned that a failure to work with us to help these children join their adoptive families could have a negative impact on the relationship between our two governments.” The group of lawmakers is particularly concerned about approximately 30 adoptions that have already been finalized but, because of the order, the parents are unable to obtain the f
