Trent Franks links balanced budget to abortion and Nazis

Truth is, former oil man and now Republican Congressman Trent Franks, who's definitely in the running for the looniest congressman from the looniest state, can link any topic to abortion. In the mid-80s Franks founded the Arizona Family Research Institute, the local version of Dobson's Focus on the Family. He was elected to the state legislature in 1984 running primarily on one issue: abortion. When Franks was elected to the US House in 2002, he arrived in DC with one goal: overturn Roe v Wade, and his entire tenure has been devoted to doing just that. This spring during the Planned ...

Arizona Congressman Trent Franks today endorsed Wes Gullett for Mayor of Phoenix, citing Gullett’s dedication to limited government and his Seven Point Jobs Plan. “Wes Gullett understands that government doesn’t create jobs, businesses do! Wes’ seven point plan to cut taxes and keep the city’s budget in line will help businesses grow jobs and keep hard earned money in taxpayer’s wallets where it belongs. International Religious Freedom Caucus Leader: Sam Brownback Is A Longtime ‘Champion of Religious Liberty’
Washington, D.C. – In reaction to Sam Brownback being chosen by the Trump administration to serve as the ambassador-at-large for religious freedom, Congressman Trent Franks released the following statement:   "I am a longtime and devoted admirer of Sam Brownback. Sam is an absolute champion of religious liberty and human dignity. I am extremely pleased with the White House's choice to promote him as the next Ambassador-At-Large for religious freedom. In his new role, I have every conviction that he will bring an unprecedented level of attention to those persecuted for their religious beliefs across the globe."     ###
Rep. Trent Franks Thanks Rex Tillerson For Telling the Truth Concerning Genocide in Middle East
Washington, D.C. -- Reacting to Rex Tillerson's July 28th comments reaffirming that a 'genocide' of Christians, Yazidis and other religious minorities in Iraq, Congressman Trent Franks released the following statement:   “Our Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, affirmed what we’ve known to be true for quite some time now – that the mass slaughter of Christians, Yazidis and other religious minorities in Iraq is a genocide.   “Tillerson’s comments came the same day I and 50 of my colleagues sent a letter to the Secretary addressing concern that some of the State Department staff have sought to undermine and perhaps roll back the 2016 determination that ISIS is committing a genocide. I want to thank him for telling the truth about what’s happening in the Middle East, despite pressures from within.”   ###
An International Moment of Clarity
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Trent Franks, who had helped introduce a bill that would give Charlie Gard lawful permanent status, reacted to the news that Charlie Gard passed away, one week before his first birthday:   “I pray his loving parents are deeply comforted to know that their little Charlie Gard is now in a place where he is truly and completely loved, and all tears are wiped away forever. In the brief time their little baby spent in the shadows of this life on earth, Charlie Gard brought the focus of the collective human conscience to bear on the gravity, brevity and preciousness of each life. His story awakened the world. This little boy’s passing will not be in vain. Because he lived and fought his battles, someday another little boy or girl will defeat this terrible disease and grow up to walk in the sunlight of life; and change the world for all of us.”   ###
Rep. Trent Franks Reacts to Senate Republicans Voting Down Obamacare “Skinny Repeal”
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Trent Franks reacted to the early morning news that U.S. Senate voted down the Obamacare “skinny repeal” bill, a bill that would remove some of the worst parts of Obamacare:   “I am saddened to learn that the U.S. Senate has failed to pass the most basic form of Obamacare repeal early this morning. Here in the House, we deliberated and passed a bill that would have move us closer to a patient-centered system that meets the needs of more Americans than under Obamacare. Our bill would have lowered premiums and stabilized the insurance market, which is now in crisis.   “It is time for America to abolish the 60-vote rule that forced the Senate into a reconciliation process that did not allow room for broad, lateral negotiation as could have occurred under regular order. President Donald Trump was extremely astute to recognize the ‘senseless 60’ Senate rule to be a primary culprit for creating a U.S. Senate that has now become fundamentally
