He is a member of the Republican Party. He previously served in the Pennsylvania Senate. The district includes several wealthy suburbs south of Pittsburgh. Air Force to close 911th Airlift Wing in Moon


The Air Force today announced plans to close the 911th Airlift Wing in Moon within the next two years, moving two of its seven C-130 transport planes to other bases and retiring the rest. U.S. Rep. Congressman Tim Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair, said he got the news in a phone call this afternoon from the base's acting commander Col. James Finney. Mr. Finney could not immediately be reached because he was at a meeting to relay the news to the 1,300 troops under his command. Congressman Tim Murphy (R-PA 18) was among the 239 Representatives who voted in favor of a resolution to reject President Obama’s request for an additional $1.2 trillion to the debt ceiling. The President formally requested Congress to approve a second increase to the debt ceiling January12th.
