Womack Hits Entitlements At Town Hall

U.S. Rep. Steve Womack, R-Rogers, said Congress cannot possibly balance the budget without cutting nondiscretionary spending. Nondiscretionary spending is primarily consumed by Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security and accounts for roughly two-thirds of annual spending by the federal government. “When Paul Ryan (a U.S. representative from Wisconsin) said in his 2012 budget presentation that you’ve got to get into the entitlement spending if you’re going to appreciably change the fiscal trajectory of this country, he was right,” Womack said. “Don’t ...

No “recess” for Congressman Steve Womack

Congressman Steve Womack, perhaps sensitive to the jokes (and very angry comments) that so many have been making across the country about the recess that Congress has embarked upon, is making sure that constituents know that he is hard at work during this period. In his latest email message to voters, The Scowling One writes that to “ . . . describe the past two weeks as ‘busy’ is an understatement. My schedule has been packed whether it’s meetings in Northwest Arkansas, town halls in Fort Smith and Russellville or meet and greets with constituents in Harrison.” ...

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement in response to the passage of H.Res. 502, Providing for the concurrence by the House in the Senate amendments to H.R. 601, with an amendment. [Amendment consists of the text of H.R. 3672, Making Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief]: “I commend my colleagues in the House for recognizing the urgency of these funds. The flooding and damages caused by Hurricane Harvey are on a scale seen not even once in a lifetime, and our fellow Americans in Texas and beyond look to us now for timely help.  “It is important that we in Congress understand the federal government's limited, yet vital role during disasters such as this and I stand beside my fellow appropriators to assess any disaster relief needs that may arise during the remainder of this hurricane season.”   Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations
Womack Stands with the President’s Strategy in Afghanistan and Southwest Asia
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement in response to President Trump’s path forward in Afghanistan and Southwest Asia:    “I was impressed with the candor and commitment of the President. Womack Responds to the Administration’s Announcement Regarding DACA Eligible Immigrants
Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement in response to the Administration’s announcement regarding DACA eligible immigrants:    “The issue of DACA-eligible young people is a manifestation of a broken immigration enforcement system. I have a heart for their plight. At the same time, I believe that part of the genius of America is that we are a nation of laws. The President is right; Congress has the responsibility to address this issue and now is the time to do so. With thoughtful debate, jobs can be protected, lawful immigration can be championed, and the proper relief can come for the young people who know only America as their country and who continue to work hard to achieve that American dream.”     Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Military Construction-Veterans Affairs, and Labor-Health and Human Services subco
