PM announces Governor General to attend investiture of Willem-Alexander as King of the Netherlands Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced that His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will travel to the Netherlands to attend the investiture of Willem-Alexander in Amsterdam on April 30, 2013.
Willem-Alexander, Prince of Orange and eldest son of Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus, will ascend to the throne as King of the Netherlands following the abdication of Queen Beatrix. The heir apparent will be the first King of the Netherlands since 1890.
Canada and the Netherlands enjoy excellent relations based on a long-standing history of cooperation and deep and significant people to people ties, with over one million people living in Canada with Dutch ancestry. PM tables the 20th Annual Report on the Public Service of Canada Prime Minister Stephen Harper today tabled in Parliament the 20th Annual Report to the Prime Minister on the Public Service of Canadafrom Wayne G. Wouters, the Clerk of the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of the Public Service.
The Report reflects on the significant changes that have unfolded in the Public Service and the world since the publication of the First Annual Report to the Prime Minister in 1992. Over the past year, the Public Service has delivered on the government’s agenda and continued to find more efficient and effective ways of doing business, while managing personnel changes in a sensible and respectful manner.
