Government Does Not Represent Our Views

Elections no longer work. Lobbying no longer works. Email and telephone campaigns no longer work. Symbolic protests no longer work. Americans need to get organized and mobilized to demand what we want. The occupation begins on October 6, 2011 when thousands of Americans enter Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC and refuse to leave. We are calling the occupation Stop the Machine: Create a New World. The new world we seek is already supported by super-majorities of the American people. A large majority of Americans consistently support the following agenda:- Tax the rich and corporations - End the ...

American Voices: Scientists Develop Non-Melting Ice Cream

Daily Press Briefing by the Press Secretary Josh Earnest, 09/03/15
James S. Brady Press Briefing Room   1:50 P.M. EDT MR. EARNEST:  Good afternoon, everybody.  Nice to see you all.  It’s mindboggling to think that about 13 hours ago, I was standing north of the Arctic Circle.  But I'm certainly pleased to be here in the much warmer Washington, D.C. climate today. Q    -- the first sitting President. MR. EARNEST:  It was a wonderful trip.  We had a great time. I don't have any beginning announcements, though.  So, Nancy, we'll start with you. Q    Thanks.  A couple questions related to the refugee crisis.  The U.S. pace of taking in who Syrian refugees has been very low and very slow.  Is the White House doing anything about that? MR. EARNEST:  Well, Nancy, obviously there’s been a lot of news on this topic over the last 24 hours, some of which have been driven by some just tragic images.  And I think it's appropriate for us to start, when we talk
Statement by the President on the Retirement of Congressman John Kline
During his 25 years in the Marine Corps, and more than a decade in Congress, John Kline has served his country and his constituents with honor and distinction.  He's the proud husband of an Army nurse and the proud father of two children, including a son who has served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.  John's never been afraid to stand up for what he believes in, and as the Chairman of the House Education Committee, he's shown a willingness to work together with anybody - Republican or Democrat - who has the best interests of our students at heart.  I look forward to continuing to work with John in the coming months, especially as we continue our efforts to give every child in America the fair shot in life they deserve, and I wish him and Vicky well in whatever their future holds.
