Alhoewel die party voorhou om minderheidsgroepe in Suid-Afrika te verteenwoordig kom steun vir die party hoofsaaklik uit die Indiër gemeenskap in Suid-Afrika. Die party se grootste steunbasis is in KwaZulu-Natal, veral in Durban wat die kulturele en demografiese sentrum van Suid-Afrika se Indiër gemeenskap is.
