Always Be Prepared for a Bioterrorism Attack

Nearly a decade has passed since 9/11, the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil in history. And while there has not been a major attack on U.S. soil in the past 10 years, our enemies are still working every day to kill innocent Americans. Terrorists continue to focus on using a chemical or biological weapon, which could kill tens of thousands of people if unleashed in a major U.S. city. According to the Graham-Talent Commission, the United States is still at serious risk of a bioterrorism attack. Thankfully, Congress has taken significant steps over the past 10 years to better prepare the ...

Rogers Statement on Budget Control Bill

U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, MI-08, issued the following statement after voting to shrink the federal budget by cutting more than the increase in the debt ceiling:"The Budget Control Act is a realistic approach that provides real solutions to how Congress spends money. The bill cuts more spending -- $2.4 trillion according to the Congressional Budget Office – than the debt limit increases. Washington is taking responsibility by paying our bills in a manner that not only ensures that Michigan families’ finances won’t be disrupted by a job-destroying national credit default, but also ...

Op-Ed: NSA program is vital
On the morning of September 11, 2001, Khalid al-Mihdhar stepped on to American Airlines Flight 77, the flight he would later crash into the Pentagon. Al-Mihdhar might have been in prison, instead of on that flight, if the government knew he had called anal-Qaeda safehouse in Yemen from inside the U.S. seven times before the attacks. The failure to spot phone calls by al-Mihdhar and others led the Intelligence community to begin collecting large volumes of call data records, specifically the number dialed and the date and duration of the call, to determine whether suspected terrorists had contacts inside the United States. Since last summer, a great deal has been written about the program's scope, capabilities and legality —much of it wrong. The fact is that the program is legal. It was authorized by Congress and found constitutional many times over. No review of the program revealed a
Rogers Bipartisan Data Center Energy Efficient Bill Clears House
Washington- The U.S. House of Representatives took an important step this week by passing H.R. 2126, the Energy Efficiency Improvement Act, a consolidation of four bipartisan bills, including Congressman Rogers’ legislation, H.R. 540 the Energy Efficiency Government Technology Act. The bill passed by an overwhelming vote of 375 to 36. H.R. 540 would save the federal government energy and money by requiring the use of energy efficient and energy reduction technologies, particularly in federal data centers.  It is estimated that it will save taxpayers $300 million annually. "I am committed to the fight against government waste, that's why I came to Washington," said Rep. Rogers. "The Energy Efficient Government Technology Act is a perfect example of legislation that will promote energy efficiency in the federal government while also saving taxpayers money. I am pleased my colleagues overwhelmingly agree.” To learn more about H.R. 2126, click HERE.  For a one page
