ENG: Metiria Leanne Agnes Stanton Turei (born 1970) is a New Zealand member of Parliament and the female co-leader of the Green Party alongside Russel Norman. As of 2011 she is the Green Party spokesperson on Social Equity, Electoral Reform, Māori and Treaty Issues, Housing and Children. Political career Metiria was a founding member of the Random Trollops performance art troupe. She was a candidate for the McGillicuddy Serious Party in the 1993 election and for the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party in the 1996 election. Turei calls for last charges to be dropped


Greens co-leader Metiria Turei says it's time to drop the charges against the remaining members of the Urewera 18. The High Court this week dismissed charges against 13 of the defendants when the prosecution said it would not present evidence on firearms charges arising from alleged military style training camps in 2007.
