Julia Gillard misleads parliament on who sought the dodgy AWU association
Julia Gillard has misled parliament on who sought the dodgy AWU association, which was used to defraud the AWU, in an attempt to protect her former boyfriend Bruce Wilson. Gillard and Wilson are playing the blame Ralph Blewitt game to protect themselves. Bruce Wilson was the brains behind the fraud and setting up the association to facilitate [...]

The Julia Gillard – Bruce Wilson Police investigation – It’s just another Malcolm Turnbull Utegate affair stuff-up
The Victorian Police investigation into the Julia Gillard / Bruce Wilson AWU fraud scandal is as good as dead and buried. At least as far as Julia Gillard being charged is concerned and it is highly unlikely the police will even try to interview her. The key reason for this is Ralph Blewitt and his association with the [...]

Transcript of Joint Press Conference
PM: Today is a very sad day for the workers at Ford who have heard the news today that their jobs will come to an end in October 2016. This is a very sad day for those workers and for their families. Our thoughts are with them on what is an incredibly difficult day for them.

Justice Rodney Madgwick and the missing court judgement in the Julia Gillard Bruce Wilson AWU fraud scandal
There is a missing court judgement by Justice Madgwick in the Julia Gillard / Bruce Wilson AWU fraud scandal. The court has advised me that he did not publish a judgement which I find scandalous and not believable, especially when put together with the other documents that have gone missing from other sources in relation [...]

We're not just a lucky country
In the last week, there has been a growing understanding among Australians that our economy really is among the best in the world. Independent commentators, international ratings agencies, the IMF, OECD, World Bank and the Governor of the Reserve Bank are now all talking about how strong our economy is– perhaps stronger than many realise.

Hazel Hawke AO
I was so sad to learn this evening that Hazel Hawke has died. Ordinary Australians saw the best of themselves in Hazel – many women of her generation will feel they have lost a friend. Hazel was one of those rare people who are liked and respected in equal measure.  Her warmth and generosity of spirit in success were only matched by her courage and dignity in adversity.

Julia Gillard declares civil war on the Labor Party and Australian public
Julia Gillard threw a stick of dynamite when she announced the election date 7 months in advance this week. Well that stick of dynamite has well and truly been lit with the criminal charges against federal MP Craig Thomson and more importantly the resignations of the two federal ministers Chris Evans and AG Nicola Roxon. The [...]

Fair Go swallowed by education gap
No country can really claim to be the land of the fair go unless that fair go is extended from the start, in our classrooms and our school playgrounds. But, as we read on the front page of The Advertiser (21/5/12), too many Australian school students are being denied a fair go because of the gap between rich and poor that has developed in our schools.

Why we're making life a bit easier for parents
This morning, Wayne Swan and I walked to school with Elizabeth and Anthony and their kids, Liam and Lauren. We had a coffee beforehand – and a chat about some of the things Elizabeth and Anthony have to buy to get their kids ready for school. We could have spent the whole day going through it all.

Change is never easy but benefits will flow
For the past thirty years, footy has embraced difficult changes, like an independent commission and a national draft. They’ve always had their critics but they’ve made the competition stronger than ever before. Australians have a fair bit of commonsense that winding back the clock is never really the best thing – whether it’s for a footy club or for the country.

Support For Workers And Regions Affected By Ford Decision
Ford Australia’s announcement that it will cease manufacturing in Australia from 2016 makes this a distressing day for the company’s workforce, suppliers and the broader communities affected.

Federal Budget Delivers For The Central Coast
Prime Minister Julia Gillard today joined Federal Infrastructure and Transport Minister Anthony Albanese and Robertson MP Deb O’Neill on the Central Coast to reaffirm Federal Labor’s $600 million plan to ease congestion and cut travel times along the F3, which connects Sydney to the Central Coast and Newcastle. That’s real money for real projects that will make a real difference. Funded in last week’s Federal Budget, the new package of works can’t come soon enough. Already, this corridor is used by some 75,000 cars and 7,000 trucks a day, with freight volumes alone predicted to nearly double within just the next two decades. The centrepiece of Federal Labor’s plan is $405 million to bring forward the construction of the much needed, long talked about “missing link” between the F3 and M2. As well as delivering smoother, quicker driving conditions, this new 7.7 kilometre dual two lane road tunnel beneath Pennant Hills Road will al
