Early life and career A lawyer by trade, she was raised in Branson, Missouri where she attended Branson High School. She then went on to earn degrees at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield and the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law. Sen. Jolie Justus, a Kansas City Democrat, was chosen by her party this week to be minority floor leader of the Missouri Senate. Justus, who is halfway through her second and final term in office, will act as the legislative leader of the 10-member Democratic caucus. Republicans control 24 seats in the Senate.
