Forum aims to provide aid to vets

Looking tired and a bit dazed, Jerry Parisella stood up from his plastic chair and waved at the crowd of 25 or so veterans and their families who were clapping for him Friday night in Danvers. Just the night before, the Army Major had stepped off the plane at Boston's Logan Airport after serving 11 months in Iraq. He spent most of his first day in America catching up with his 7-year-old daughter, Sophia, and 21-year-old stepson, Chris. But Friday night, he suited up to join veterans young and old at Holten Richmond Middle School for a forum on veterans' aid. Hosted by Congressman John F. ...

GOP sees Massachusetts Rep. Tierney as vulnerable in 2012

Faced with a newly drawn congressional district, his wife's legal woes and more fallout from his brother-in-law's federal racketeering and money laundering trial, U.S. Rep. John Tierney is facing Republican candidates eager to take back the North Shore Democrat's seat next year. "When Democratic incumbents lose in Massachusetts, it is usually related to redistricting and some scandal," said longtime GOP strategist Rob Gray. "Everything has to go your way for a Republican to win a congressional seat in Massachusetts." Tierney, who was a Salem attorney before winning his Sixth Congressional ...

Tierney Attends Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act Bill Signing at White House
WASHINGTON, D.C- Congressman John F. Tierney today attended a bill singing ceremony at the White House as President Obama signed the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) into law. With the President’s signature today, WIOA will become the biggest jobs bill that passes Congress and is signed into law in the last two years. “This legislation, which includes much of what I proposed, constitutes the most significant jobs bill that Congress will pass this session and it improves existing law,” said Congressman Tierney. “It allows for collaboration and partnership among businesses, employees, communities and higher education institutions, ensuring that people have the exact skills and educational background needed for jobs in
