Gibbons announces support of healthcare lawsuit

Carson City- "This is a victory for every Nevadan and every American." Those were the words of Governor Jim Gibbons after a Florida judge ruled that a federal lawsuit against the Reid/Obama Nationalized Healthcare law (Obamacare) can move forward in court. "This healthcare law is sick and we can prove it in court," Gibbons said, "No Nevada citizen should be forced to buy anything and then be threatened with IRS penalties if they don't comply. That's exactly what the Reid/Obama Nationalized Healthcare law does." Lawyers for the Obama Administration filed a motion to dismiss a ...

Chief of staff for Gibbons takes Dairy Commission job

Lynn Hettrick CARSON CITY – Lynn Hettrick, the deputy chief of staff for Gov. Jim Gibbons, is taking a new job. Hettrick has been named executive director of the state Dairy Commission, which regulates the state's 20 dairy farms, two milk plants and three frozen dessert plants. Gibbons and his staff looked at possibly eliminating the dairy commission, but Hettrick said there must be regulation or farmers couldn't ship their milk outside Nevada. The 10th Amendment, for those that don’t know, says this: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved [...]
Which is the real Gibbons?
(Hint: He’s the one wearing his traditional favorite, the turtleneck. Hat tip to the Review-Journal for the image.)
The economy or the governor? (Hint: It’s the governor)
As I write this, there are four hours left in the administration of Jim Gibbons as governor of Nevada. And while Gibbons has declined all media requests (including mine) for an exit interview to interpret his four years in office, writers are still struggling to understand the man who’s place in history as the state’s [...]
Fingers pointing in Race to the Top fiasco
This time, it was Harry Reid who started it. After it was announced that Nevada would not receive any Race to the Top education grant funds, Reid quickly placed the blame at the feet of Gov. Jim Gibbons. Here’s what he said in a statement: I join Nevada’s students and their parents in being disappointed [...]
