Previously he served in the United States House of Representatives for Rhode Island's 2nd congressional district. Early life Reed was born in Cranston, Rhode Island, to Mary Louise (née Monahan) and Joseph Anthony Reed. Forty-four thousand young people take their lives every year, and Senator Jack Reed hopes that new federal funding will help stop youth suicides in Rhode Island.
