George Galloway (born 16 August 1954) is a British politician, writer, and broadcaster, and the Respect Party Member of Parliament (MP) for Bradford West.
After first coming to public attention as the General Secretary of War on Want (1983–87), Galloway was elected as a Labour Party MP in the 1987 general election representing Glasgow Hillhead and (from 1997) its successor constituency Glasgow Kelvin. He remained the MP for the later seat until 2005. In October 2003, Galloway was expelled from the Labour Party having been found guilty of four of five charges of bringing the Labour Party into disrepute.
He became a founding member of the Respect Party in 2004, and was elected as the MP for Bethnal Green and Bow at the general election the following year. After ...

And it was a mere four months since his third wife had given birth to a son – their ...

Notebook turned to Chris Mullin’s diaries for his account of a parliamentary visit to Vietnam in 1995, when he and Mr Galloway were both leftwing Labour MPs. Mr Galloway clearly struggled with a reformist country that was opening its economy to the private sector. The head of ...

George Galloway's victory in the Bradford West by-election is the latest in a long-line of by-election upsets.
By-elections - votes scheduled between regular elections - are taken by the media as the mid-term popularity indicators, which often ignores the local decisions behind a vote and the smaller turnouts that often take place.
