It said it would shut down Anglo Irish Bank and Irish Nationwide building society by the end of the year.
The party also pledges to increase mortgage interest relief for those in negative equity to help them save up to €166 a month. It would also cut bank costs to avoid interest rate hikes.

The first of the “leaders debates” will be shown on commercial television station TV3 on Tuesday. At least one more is expected to be broadcast on state broadcaster RTE.
