ביוגרפיה
נולד בירושלים כבן שני מבין שמונת ילדיהם של ציון ואיווט-פורטונה ישי, שעלו מתוניס. למד בישיבות חורב, "פורת יוסף" בירושלים וישיבת הנגב בנתיבות. בשנים 1980 - 1983 שירת בצה"ל תחילה כטנקיסט ולאחר מכן כמש"ק דת ביחידת תובלה.
