Congressman Ed Towns’ Lazy Leadership

For far too long, Brooklyn has been under the thumb of the lazy leadership of Congressman Ed Towns.27 years of incompetency, corruption, and laziness have left our Congressional district lagging well behind the rest of Brooklyn. Ed Towns has had 27 years to help our families, improve our schools, and make a difference in our lives. He has failed. At $1,285 per month, Towns’ 2-year lease on a 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid for tooling around his district will cost taxpayers more than $30,000 — enough to buy the vehicle new. “That’s too much!” roared a salesman at a Ford dealership in Brooklyn that sold and leased Mercuries before Ford discontinued the brand. “That price is for a big, luxury truck . . . like a Lincoln MKT,” which sold for about $49,000 in 2010, said the ...

Over his two-year lease, Towns will pay some $30,000 — more than it costs to buy the boxy sedan outright. And taxpayers are on the hook for the monthly payments. So what accounts for the waste? “It is what it is,” said a spokesman for Towns, who’s ...
