Michael Douglas Finley (born July 25, 1946) is a Canadian Senator and was formerly Campaign Director for the Conservative Party of Canada during the 2006 and 2008 federal elections and the party's director of Political Operations. He is described often as Prime Minister Stephen Harper's "number two man" who vets and disciplines candidates and MPs. He has also been involved with the Scottish National Party and the former Reform and Canadian Alliance parties (which was eventually dissolved into the current Conservative Party). Conservatives in the Senate want to change the tax laws regarding environmental groups in Canada who protest energy projects.
According to a senior Conservative, any group that protests developing Alberta's oilsands should lose its charitable status.
