"I am a Refugee" campaign The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is launching a new international campaign this week entitled "I am a refugee". The campaign, spearheaded by Deputy Foreign Minister Daniel Ayalon, will be presented in three languages: Hebrew, Arabic and English. Its purpose: to increase international awareness of a little-known refugee group – Jewish refugees from Arab countries.
Many Jews who had lived for generations in Arab countries were driven from their homes as a result of antisemitism and anti-Jewish riots that broke out in the Arab countries following the declaration of the Jewish state. Between 1948 and 1952, 856,000 Jews from Arab countries became refugees.
On the Facebook page can be found personal stories of Israelis from Arab countries who were expelled from their homes and their countries, but not before their property was confiscated and their rights were taken from them by the rulers.

"Support of the Palestinian request to upgrade their UN status equals to support in terror" Deputy Foreign Minister, Danny Ayalon, hosted his counterpart from Panama, Mr. Francisco A'lvarez De-Soto, for a first time Diplomatic Dialog between the two countries.
The two discussed Panama's position regarding the Palestinian intention to apply unilaterally for an upgrade in their UN status – to be recognized as a non-member state.
Last year Panama was the only Latin American country that was against accepting the PA as member to UNESCO, and declared that it will not recognize a Palestinian state without an agreement between the PA and Israel.
DFM Ayalon estimates that Panama will oppose any unilateral move made by the PA at the UN. "Today I have passed a message to my counterpart from Panama that any country that will support the Palestinian intent to apply for a membership in the UN, will, in effect, support the end of the dialog process and create allusions that have the danger of dissolving into violence and terror".
