ENG: The Northern Territory Country Liberal Party (CLP) is a Northern Territory political party affiliated with both the National (formerly "Country") and Liberal parties of Australia. However, it lost Government in 2001 and was reduced to four parliamentary members in 2005. At 9 August 2008 Legislative Assembly general election it gained a significant swing, gaining 11 out of the 25 seats. A former member of the Country Liberals management committee is calling for Northern Territory Opposition Leader Terry Mills to resign over his actions during the federal election campaign. Steve Brown stood aside from his position on the Country Liberals management committee in the lead up to election day. In an email to the Northern Territory parliamentary wing this week Mr Brown says pre-polling in the seat of Lingiari suggested the party's candidate Leo Abbott was set to provide strong competition to Labor's sitting member Warren Snowdon, before a domestic violence order breach was ...

CLP shake healing hands to cure fix

The Country Liberal party has selected a mediator and dispute resolution expert to run for the seat of Araluen in Alice Springs. Robyn Lambley, also a long-time Centralian businesswoman, will aim to take the place of Jodeen Carney at a forthcoming byelection. The party has been beset by conflict since leader Terry Mills called for Lingiari candidate Leo Abbott to be disendorsed during the federal election campaign. But party bosses refused to ditch Mr Abbott, who had breached a Domestic Violence Order. The turmoil peaked eleven days ago as David Tollner launched an ill-fated ...

Robyn Lambley on the ‘politics of hate, discord and lies’ – the ‘dark, unpleasant, amoral cabal’ that rules the NT
Robyn Lambley on NT Chief Minister Adam Giles: 'This is the Chief Minister whose modus operandi is to eliminate, execute, annihilate and assassinate – and of course has no use for the truth.'
Adam Giles – last man standing on the CLP’s ship of fools?
Whoever wins the next NT election will face daunting political and economic challenges. Arrogance, hubris, venality and rank political stupidity have proven a fatal combination for the CLP, a party that could once claim pride of place in Territory politics. Right now it is little more than a shambling, punchdrunk rabble.

A report of the sale of a large freehold cattle station in the NT to the country's largest grower of sandalwood is denied by the station owners but questions remain over the future of the station's controversial water allocation.
What price for water? Stylo Station sold for $5.5 million.
Stylo Station is a modest cattle property near Mataranka in the NT's so-called "never-never" country. Why it is of such interest and controversy is all part of an unfolding tale, with many parts yet to come. Here is the latest ...
