GER: Die Christlich Demokratische Union Deutschlands (CDU) ist eine deutsche Partei; nach eigenen Angaben ist sie eine christlich-soziale, liberale und wertkonservative Volkspartei.
Sie stellt mit der Bundesvorsitzenden Angela Merkel die amtierende Bundeskanzlerin der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Auf europäischer Ebene ist die CDU Mitglied der Europäischen Volkspartei (EVP, engl. European People’s Party, EPP). Die CDU ist nach Anzahl der Mitglieder die zweitgrößte Partei in Deutschland. Die Christlich-Demokratische Union Deutschlands („Ost-CDU“) ging 1990 in der gesamtdeutschen CDU auf. Mit der bayerischen Schwesterpartei CSU bildet die CDU im Bundestag eine Fraktionsgemeinschaft.
