Elections Canada appeals 'in and out' court ruling


Elections Canada is appealing a court decision that gave the Conservatives an important win in the dispute over the party's financing of the 2006 election campaign. In the notice of appeal, the agency alleges Mr. Justice Luc Martineau of the Federal Court made more than 30 errors in his ruling over the so-called “in and out” transactions used to fund the purchase radio and TV ads. The court also ignored and misinterpreted evidence, the agency claims. The appeal is the second challenge of a Federal Court decision Elections Canada has launched this year.
