Labour slam SNP membership claims


LABOUR yesterday dismissed reports the SNP have become Scotland's biggest political party. The Nats made the claim following a surge in new recruits last year. Party membership was 16,232 at the end of December - up four per cent on the same time last year. Primary pupil decrease LOCHEARNHEAD Primary School is being mothballed after its only two remaining pupils asked to move. Stirling councillors were briefed on the situation as urgent business. The 112-year-old school was saved from closure in summer 2007, when the SNP administration at Holyrood said it would not allow Stirling Council to axe the school and send its eight pupils to Strathyre instead. MSPs have launched a challenge to the Labour government at Westminster to call an immediate General Election. The calls, led by the Scottish Conservatives, were made the day after the UK Government comfortably saw off a similar Nationalist challenge at Westminster.
