Bakir Izetbegović (Sarajevo, 28. juna 1956.), je bosanskohercegovački političar i član Predsjedništva Bosne i Hercegovine, potpredsjednik Stranke demokratske akcije, te sin prvog Predsjedavajućeg Predsjedništva Republike Bosne i Hercegovine, Alije Izetbegovića.

 

Život i karijera

Bakir Izetbegović je završio Arhitektonski fakultet Univerziteta u Sarajevu 1981. godine. Od 1982. do 1991. radio je kao konsultant u firmi "Konsalting" u Sarajevu, nakon čega je od 1991. do 2003. godine obavljao dužnost direktora Zavoda za izgradnju Kantona Sarajevo. Tokom rata u Bosni i Hercegovini je bio angažovan kao lični sekretar svog oca Alije Izetbegovića, predsjednika Republike Bosne i Hercegovine.

 

U periodu od 1992. do 2003. bio je član Kantonalnog odbora SDA Sarajevo, a funkciju predsjedavajućeg Kluba poslanika SDA u Skupštini Kantona Sarajevo obavljao je u periodu od 2000. do 2002. godine. Član Glavnog odbora i Predsjedništva SDA, te poslanik u Predstavničkom domu Parlamenta Federacije BiH bio je u periodu od 2002. do 2006. Funkciju potpredsjednika SDA obavljao je u periodu od 2003. do 2009, a trenutno je član Predsjedništva SDA.

 

Na općim izborima u Bosni i Hercegovini, održanim 2006. izabran je u Parlamentarnu skupštinu Bosne i Hercegovine gdje je do 2010. bio predsjedavajući Kluba poslanika SDA u PD PSBIH i predsjedavajući delegacije PS BIH u Vijeću Evrope. Na posljednjim općim izborima održanim 2010. godine, izabran je za člana Predsjedništva Bosne i Hercegovine iz reda bošnjačkog naroda.

 

Angažiran je kao koordinator izgradnje Gazi Husrev-begove biblioteke u Sarajevu, također, bio je i koordinator izgradnje BBI Centra u Sarajevu. Od 1995. do 1997. bio je član Upravnog odbora fudbalskog kluba Sarajevo. U periodu od 1997. do 2000. bio je član Upravnog odbora košarkaškog kluba Bosna. Funkciju člana upravnog odbora muslimanskog humanitarnog društva “Merhamet”, obavljao je od 1999. do 2003. Član Sabora Islamske zajednice BiH bio je u periodu od 2000. do 2002.

 

Oženjen je i ima kćerku. Živi u Sarajevu . Govori engleski jezik.

Bakir Izetbegović (born 28 June 1956) is a Bosnian politician. Izetbegović is a member of the Party of Democratic Action and son of the late Bosnian president, Alija Izetbegović. In 2010, he was elected to be the Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

Bakir Izetbegović was born to Alija Izetbegović and Halida on June 28, 1956, in Sarajevo. Bakir also has a daughter, Jasmina. Izetbegović graduated with a degree in architecture from the University of Sarajevo in 1981. From 1982 until 1992 he worked as a consultant at an architectural consulting firm. He entered politics in 2000 and after serving in two regional assemblies was elected to the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2006. In May 2009, he was defeated in an inter party election when he challenged the incumbent president of the Party of Democratic Action for leadership.

 

On 3 October 2010 Izetbegović was elected to the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina as the Bosniak member. Izetbegović came in first in a field of nine candidates with 35% of the vote. The runner up, Fahrudin Radončić won 31% of the vote while incumbent Haris Silajdžić won 25%. Six other candidates split the remaining 9% of the votes cast.

 

In 2010, Izetbegović ensured that the state owned telecommunications company BH Telecom bought an unfinished office building in Sarajevo for 34 million KM (17.4 million euros) from the OKI company. The building's previous owners were longtime supp. rters of the Party of Democratic Action who could not sell the building for 20 million KM.
