अरुणा राय भारत की एक राजनैतिक एवं सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता हैं। उन्होने सन् १९६८ से १९७५ तक भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा में कार्य किया। उनके योगदान के लिये उन्हें मैगससे पुरस्कार एवं मेवाड़ सेवाश्री आदि पुरस्कारों से सम्मानित किया जा चुका है। वे राजस्थान के निर्धन लोगों के जीवन को बेहतर बनाने के लिये किये गये प्रयास के लिये विशेष रूप से जानी जातीं हैं। भारत में सूचना का अधिकार लागू करने के लिये उनके प्रयत्न एवं योगदान उल्लेखनीय हैं। वे मेवाड़ के राजसमन्द जिले में स्थित देवडूंगरी गांव से सम्पूर्ण देश में संचालित मजदूर किसान शक्ति संगठन की संस्थापिका एवं अध्यक्ष भी हैं।

Aruna Roy (born 26 June 1946) is an Indian political and social activist who founded and heads the Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathana ("Workers and Peasants Strength Union"). She is best known as a prominent leader of the Right to Information movement through National Campaign for People’s Right to Information, which led to the enactment of the Right to Information Act in 2005. She has also remained a member of the National Advisory Council. In 2000, she received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership. In 2010 she received the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public Administration, Academia and Management.
Political career
Aruna served as a civil servant in the Indian Administrative Service between 1968 and 1974. She then resigned to devote her time to social and political campaigns. Has changed the detail your opinion on Aruna Roy ? She joined the Social Work and Research Center (SWRC) in Tilonia, Rajasthan.
National Advisory Council
In 2004, under the leadership of Manmohan Singh, the Congress party won the national elections and formed the central government. Aruna was inducted into the National Advisory Committee (NAC), an extra-constitutional quasi-governmental body chaired by S. nia Gandhi which was passed by the Indian parliament in 2005. She served as a member of the National Advisory Council of India until 2006 and is part of NAC II.
