Rep. Buerkle Speaks Out for Life, Democrats Attack

Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle (R-NY) delivered a stirring speech, standing up for life, at the Values Voters Summit. The Democrats immediately went on the attack, calling her a radical. House Democrats, through their campaign arm in Washington, criticized Buerkle in a statement that said her participation in the summit places the congresswoman at the “extreme fringe” of the Republican Party. “Ann Marie Buerkle continued her crusade against life-saving women’s health care and showed why she has quickly become the poster-child for the radical, right-wing, anti-choice ...

Buerkle is lone New Yorker against job-training program

U.S. Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle stood alone among the 29-member New York congressional delegation last week when she voted against extending a program that retrains workers who lose their jobs because of international competition. The House passed the Trade Adjustment Assistance Extension Act with bipartisan support, 307-122. The bill's passage followed an earlier House vote to approve free trade agreements with South Korea, Panama and Colombia, which Buerkle, R-Onondaga Hill, supported. All other Republicans and Democrats in the New York delegation voted for the trade adjustment assistance ...

Buerkle joins Reps. calling for Attor. Gen. Holder to resign

U.S. Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle added her name today to the list of Republicans who renewed their yearlong demand for the resignation of U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. Buerkle, R-Onondaga Hill, is among more than 40 Republicans who have now signed a letter asking Holder to resign over a failed gun-tracking program known as Operation Fast and Furious. As part of the 2009 operation, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives sold firearms to known and suspected buyers for Mexican drug cartels. Two of those weapons were later found at the muder scene of a Border Patrol ...

Buerkle Statement on Fiscal Cliff Legislation
Washington, DC – Representative Buerkle (NY-25) released the following statement regarding her opposition to HR 8: “Our country does not have a taxing problem, we have a spending problem. This legislation, while containing some commendable tax relief provisions, fails to address our nation’s spending and debt crisis. I could not in good conscience vote for a bill that raises taxes and does not cut spending. Our nation must develop true tax reform, stop wasteful government spending, and implement a pro-growth economic agenda. It is unconscionable to pass this debt off to the next generation. It must be dealt with now. Note: Due to an electronic error, Representative Buerkle was recorded as “not voting” in the final counted vote tally. However, Buerkle did record her “no” vote on the legislation for the Congressional Record.
