Prime Minister Ansip got acquainted with the work of the Narva Border Crossing Point and the Jõhvi Combined Alarm Centre Jõhvi, 4 October 2013 – Prime Minister Andrus Ansip got acquainted with the work of the Narva Cordon and Road Border Crossing Point and the Jõhvi Combined Alarm Centre today.On his way to Narva, the head of government, together with the Director General of the Police and Border Guard Board, Elmar Vaher, also paid a visit to the Estonia’s northernmost island Vaindloo, where a manned border point is located.
The Prime Minister got acquainted with the daily work and technical resources of the border guards and customs officials. If currently it is possible to cross the Estonian-Russian land border in Narva via one traffic lane and one pedestrian lane, then by the end of next year, crossing the Estonian-Russian border in Narva should become significantly easier. A total of six traffic lanes and four pedestrian lanes will be established during the reconstruction works of Narva border crossing point, which makes the crossing considerably faster.
