Prime Minister Andrus Ansip to recognise mission soldiers Tallinn, Stenbock House, 2 April 2013 – At the reception in Stenbock House today, Prime Minister Andrus Ansip extended his gratitude to members of the defence forces who had served on missions abroad last year and their family members.The Prime Minister thanked the members of the defence forces who were gathered at the reception for everything they had done for Estonia. “On 27 March we celebrated Lasting Liberty Day – you are the ones who have made that lasting liberty a reality,” said Prime Minister Andrus Ansip. “You know very well that if we help others, we in turn can rely on their help. It is thanks to your service that Estonia is strong and well protected. You have hardened your mind and body on missions abroad in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Kosovo and on vessel protection teams and this has significantly strengthened our defence potential. Prime Minister Ansip attends inauguration mass of Pope Francis Tallinn, Stenbock House, 19 March 2013 – Prime Minister Andrus Ansip is representing Estonia at the inauguration mass of Pope Francis in the Vatican today.The Pope, who is also the Head of State in addition to being the leader of the Roman Catholic Church, is to be inaugurated today in St Peter’s Basilica. Representatives of between 160 and 180 states are expected to attend the event, including U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, EU President Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President José Manuel Barroso. Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo and King Albert II and Queen Paola will be representing Belgium, while Latvia and Lithuania are being represented by their presidents.
