Common thread: I notice that every person who calls or emails about secession being stupid have one thing in common: they always talk about the giveaways they receive on the backs of hard-working, self-disciplined people who create their own destiny.
What they don't understand is that they are the exact reason that the state of Alabama should be the first to secede. Let's show the world what true freedom from serfdom and political slavery looks like. It would be hard, but it would be a debt we could pay with no shackles from Washington.

A petition seeking Alabama's withdrawal from the U.S. reached 25,000 signatures early Wednesday, the threshold required to receive an official response from the White House.
The petition, filed Friday by a Chunchula resident on the White House web site, had more than 26,000 signatures as of this morning. The Obama administration, via its 'We the People' program, says it will respond to petitions that receive a minimum of 25,000 signatures within 30 days of being filed.

“Derrick B.,” the man who started a petition seeking Alabama’s withdrawal from the U.S., is a truck driving, knife collecting former owner of a topless car wash who describes himself as “an absolute Libertarian.”
Derrick Belcher, 45, of Chunchula, said in an interview late Monday that secession may be the only way to save working Americans from crushing debt, burdensome federal regulations and rising taxes.
