HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party leader Chalasani Venkateswara Rao, alias Pandu, was found murdered in an apartment at Madhuranagar in Hyderabad on Monday morning, police said. Pandu, hails from Krishna District and had contested assembly elections unsuccessfully on three occasions. Police however, ruled out any political conspiracy in the murder and said "real estate transactions could be the possible cause." Pandu came to Hyderabad two days ago on some personal work. Pandu was the right hand man of former Minister Daveneni Rajasekhar (Nehru) when he was in the TDP. Though, Nehru subsequently crossed over to the Congress party, Pandu continued in TDP. Pandu was one of the accused in the murder of the Congress MLA Vangaveti Mohan Ranga in 1988. But subsequently he was acquitted. Hyderabad police have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits in Pandu's murder.
