BEIRUT: Prime Minister Najib Mikati called Thursday on Lebanese leaders to restore trust among each other to reach a breakthrough out of the country’s political deadlock.

“The Lebanese leaders should re-instill trust among each other... the current situation requires us to confront the storm and overcome the crisis,” Mikati said during the inauguration of the Second Lebanon Economic Forum.

Mikati said his Cabinet is doing its best to confront the regional challenges surrounding the country, adding however that all political leaders share responsibility for the country and they should all work together to overcome the current situation.

“Lebanon is a joint responsibility among all parties, so everyone should put political conflicts aside and meet at the dialogue table,” Mikati said.

President Michel Sleiman Wednesday postponed a National Dialogue session scheduled for Nov. 29 to Jan. 7 after the March 14 coalition said they were sticking to their stance to boycott of dialogue until Mikati steps down.
