Mike Rann's closest ally, Mr Foley announced in September that he would stand down from the South Australian ministry on October 20, the same day as the former Premier.

The former treasurer is currently holidaying in Bali. However, he told The Australian last night he would make an announcement about his future, including any new career, next week.

"I had intended to quit when I stood down as minister but stayed on to assist passage of the Olympic Dam Indenture bill, which was 95 per cent with dealt with at midnight in the last sitting night last week," Mr Foley said.
