UPDATE 1-EU's Almunia sees gradual recovery in 2010

European Union Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner Joaquin Almunia said on Tuesday he was confident that global stimulus packages would enable the economy to recover gradually next year. 'All in all, I am confident that with all these measures .... we can start seeing a recovery, a gradual recovery, next year,' said Almunia, speaking after a meeting with Germany's DGB trade union federation. 'We are ready, as we said, both (in) Europe and at a global level to do whatever is necessary to fight this crisis and restore a normal level of economic activity.'
